The debut of my film Cosmos Songs and the presentation of five of my other films went very well. A room full of mostly old familiar faces and a good vibe. Can't hope to repeat that event. Even though tonight we are going to try. Magic happens at Dreamland Theater.

An adage which took 400 years to prove: sage aids the memory
It has taken 400 years but scientists have finally demonstrated what herbalists have long believed: sage is a tonic for the brain. Oil derived from the herb improved the memory of healthy young adults given a list of words to recall

Tomorrow morning I receive chemo treatment #4 (and the last for now).
Tomorrow evening will be the presentation of six of my films at 7:30pm at
Dreamland Theater in Ypsilanti MI. See below for links to web friendly versions of the films.
Thus my summer from hell ends on an upbeat note. Hope yours was better than mine.

Video visit at the house
I just came across this little video I made two years ago while some friends were visiting. The soundtrack is original music made with casio keyboard and guitar synth..

In case you are wondering, discussing the subject of suicide does not make one suicidal. Considering whether one would under any circumstances ever consider suicide a viable option does not make one suicidal. I, for one, am not suicidal.
I agree with Warren Zevon (fellow cancer sufferer) that not wanting to live is somehow a sin.

Living with a terminal illness is kinda like living in some good sci-fi movie with constant low-grade background (occassionally spiking into the foreground ) anxiety, over where the monster will pop up next. You are both audience and actor. All that is known is that the monster will win in the end.
(I think that was reason number one or two of reasons people committ suicide. see the third Aug 24th entry).
Today I receive the last of 36 radiation treatments. Voice has not improved thus far.

And so we had the sweetest love-making session. I could tell she enjoyed it. Afterwords we then fell back to indulge in that feeling of comfort and of all- being- right- with-the-world.

My Walk

Along the river and through the woods I walked
fleeing the clouds of despair,
or at least trying.
I looked up at the sun
it was just shining back down
on one more animal dying.

I watched the VH1 special on Warren Zevon and his battle with cancer. A very interesting and moving presentation. Couldn't help but notice his girlfriend was right there with him. She wasn't running off to a new boyfriend. That lucky son-of-a-bitch.

I did a little research into the reasons why people commit suicide. Of the top five reasons the first four apply to me directly and simultaneously. It makes sitting here blogging seem like some kind of a heroic act.
And no, I am not suicidal. In fact, I want to live longer than this cancer is going to allow me.
